If Famous Writers had Written Twilight...

seriously hilarious. you need to read this.

oh the irony

The above phrase that serves as the title to this post is usually put to use insulting someone else. This time, however, I’m using it for myself. I was scrolling through my homepage, until I came to the picture of the book on narcissism that I just bought. And then it hit me. Blogs are basically the essence of narcissism. Think about it: you open a public webpage for the sole purpose of sharing your opinions, anecdotes, and interests. Yes, some people are interesting, but most of the time they post thinking only of themselves, bluntly giving their opinion where some people may not want it.

And sure, there are arguments to this. Don’t look at the blog if you don’t like it, some people only post pictures, others blog for a cause, etc. But some of the blogs that I read often talk down about society, as if it isn’t good enough for them. Yes, we all feel disillusioned sometimes (myself included), and are disgusted by what we see (speaking for myself specifically, narcissism and the like), but we don’t always realize that our reactions to society make us just as “bad” as society itself.

Maybe I’m wrong, I can accept that. Or maybe this is just a really obvious fact that I’ve been missing for a while. Or maybe this whole post just exemplifies the irony that I’m trying to explain.

Dear Morning,

It is 12:23 am, and we are drinking Starbucks Doubleshot espressos. I don’t think I’ve ever had more concentrated caffeine in my life.

The work for French is nearing completion, as is that of US history. I’ve got a schedule for us to follow; unfortunately, we’re behind by an hour. So, instead of making up for lost time, I figured I’d post on my blog. I’m also skyping with C at the moment. She’s posting our progress on her blog (miss-narrator.livejournal.com).

Now, I suppose it’s time to get back to French, and maybe a little SAT review. Maybe.

Quote for the night:

Attempt the impossible in order to improve your work.”
